Receiving failure diagnosis

Business email not receiving messages

When a business mailbox stops receiving, the useful first question is whether mail is reaching the correct provider. AIVIQ checks public routing evidence first, then separates domain-level faults from private account-side possibilities.

What to look for

Useful signs and evidence

Common signs

  • All addresses at the domain stopped receiving
  • One mailbox is affected while others work
  • Senders receive an unknown-user or routing bounce
  • Messages arrive late or only from some senders

What the evidence can show

Incorrect MX records can direct mail to an old or unintended provider. Private causes can include mailbox quota, licence state, forwarding, aliases, inbox rules, provider filtering or a disabled user. A public DNS result cannot prove those private conditions.

What to provide

Provide the affected domain and address, whether every sender is affected, the approximate start time and the full bounce code with names or message content removed. If only one mailbox fails, say whether other addresses on the same domain still receive normally.

What the starting scope covers

A single ordinary receiving incident for one domain and one provider environment starts at CAD $89 and includes diagnosis, one repair pass and a basic verification. A clearly identified low-risk record correction may fit the CAD $49 quick-fix scope.

Safe expectations

Repair, verify, and stop at the boundary

Verification uses a controlled test and the available delivery evidence. Historical message recovery, multiple domains, migrations, compromised accounts and recipient-side filtering are outside the starting scope and require a written quote.

Before changing DNS or account settings, record the existing configuration. Use temporary access where needed, verify the agreed result, and remove that access afterward. AIVIQ does not claim access to private provider systems and does not promise a guaranteed repair time.

Next step

Start with the free public DNS check or send a written request through the main Business Email Rescue page. The hub explains all four price levels, exclusions, access rules and what happens after submission.

Questions

Before you start

Can MX records show whether my inbox is full?

No. MX records show public routing, not mailbox storage or account status.

Will changing MX records recover old messages?

Not necessarily. Routing corrections affect new delivery; recovery depends on the sending and receiving providers.
