Web design and AI automation for Langley, City and Township

Langley is two municipalities, the City of Langley and the Township of Langley, and customers in Willoughby, Walnut Grove, Fort Langley or Aldergrove often search by community name rather than 'Langley'. AIVIQ builds websites, AI phone and text agents, workflow automation and business email fixes for businesses in both, at fixed prices from CAD $150, starting from a written brief.

Two Langleys, two municipalities

"Langley" means two different places. The City of Langley is a smaller municipality built around its downtown. The Township of Langley is a separate municipality covering a much larger area, including Willoughby, Walnut Grove, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Brookswood and Aldergrove. Each has its own council, bylaws and business licensing.

Customers mostly don't care about the boundary. They say "Langley" for both, or they use the name of their community. That gap between how people talk and how the municipalities are organised is exactly where local businesses get missed in search, and it is the main thing this page is about.

One plain statement before the detail: AIVIQ is based in Vancouver and works remotely. We have no Langley office, we don't make on-site visits, and we don't claim Langley clients. The advice below works whether or not you hire us.

How people search"Langley" plus the serviceOften the community name plus the service, such as "dentist Walnut Grove" or "landscaper Brookswood"

The practical point: if your website only says "Langley", a person searching "electrician Aldergrove" has no clear sign you work there, and neither does Google.

Wording that works

How to describe your Langley service area

Write for the customer first, then make sure search engines can read the same thing. A clear service-area sentence does more than a long list of keywords. For example:

We serve the City of Langley and the Township of Langley, including Willoughby, Walnut Grove, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Brookswood and Aldergrove.

  • Say which Langley. If you only work in one, say so. If you work in both, name both. It answers the question customers are silently asking.
  • Name only communities you really serve. If you don't travel out to Aldergrove, leave it off. Listing places you won't go creates calls you have to turn down.
  • Put it where people look. The service-area section of each service page, the contact page and the footer. Once in each place is enough.
  • Match your structured data. Your site's schema markup can list both municipalities as areas served, so search engines see the same areas your copy describes.
  • Don't build a page per community with the name swapped. Google treats those as doorway pages. Add a community page only if you have something real to say there, such as a second location.
Websites

What a Langley website should make obvious

Langley businesses range from downtown shops and offices to home-based trades and businesses on rural properties in the Township. The website questions are much the same for all of them, but the answers need to be specific.

  • Where you are, or where you go. If customers visit, give the address and simple directions. If you travel to them, say how far you go and whether some areas cost extra.
  • What you do, one service per page. Each service you want to be found for deserves its own page that explains who it is for and what happens next.
  • How to reach you on a phone. A tappable number or short form near the top of every page, with hours that match your Google Business Profile.
Google Business Profile

Setting service areas across both Langleys

If customers don't come to your premises, hide your address and set service areas. Type each place into the service-area field and see what Google offers: "Langley", and community names such as Fort Langley or Aldergrove, may appear as separate options. Add the ones that match the areas you actually serve, and keep the list consistent with your website wording.

You get one profile per real business location. Creating extra profiles for Township communities where you have no staffed premises breaks Google's guidelines and risks suspension. Our guide to Google Business Profile for service-area businesses covers the settings, and the local SEO guide covers reviews and listings.

Local practicalities

Licences and the local chamber

Two licensing offices. Because the City and the Township are separate municipalities, a business licence from one does not automatically cover the other. Check with the City of Langley, the Township of Langley, or both, depending on where you are based and where you work.

Mobile trades. If you work across several municipalities, look at the Metro Vancouver Inter-Municipal Business Licence. Check whether your trade and the municipalities you work in participate.

Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce. A chamber listing can bring referrals from other local owners, and it is another place where your business name, phone number and service area should match your website exactly.

Questions people ask

Is the City of Langley the same as the Township of Langley?

No. They are two separate municipalities, each with its own council, bylaws and business licensing. Communities such as Willoughby, Walnut Grove, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Brookswood and Aldergrove are in the Township, not the City.

Which Langley do I need a business licence from?

It depends on where your business is located and where you work. Check with the City of Langley or the Township of Langley, or both if you operate in both. Mobile trades should also check whether their trade and the municipalities they work in participate in the Metro Vancouver Inter-Municipal Business Licence.

Should my website just say 'Langley'?

Use 'Langley' in your headline if that is how customers talk, then say plainly whether you serve the City, the Township or both, and name the Township communities you cover. That way someone searching 'Walnut Grove' or 'Aldergrove' can see you work there.

How do I set Google Business Profile service areas for Langley?

Hide your address if customers don't come to you, then type each place into the service-area field and add what Google offers, such as Langley and community names like Aldergrove or Fort Langley where they are available. Add only the areas you actually serve.

Is there a chamber of commerce in Langley?

Yes, the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce. Check with the chamber directly for what membership and a directory listing include.

Do you meet clients in Langley?

No. AIVIQ is based in Vancouver and works remotely, with no on-site visits. Briefs, scopes, design reviews and handover happen by email and shared documents, with an optional call.

Tell us which Langley you're in, and which communities you serve.

We'll reply with a written scope and a fixed price. No compulsory call.
