An AI receptionist for Vancouver small businesses

Missed calls are missed jobs. AIVIQ builds AI phone and text receptionists for Vancouver and Lower Mainland businesses. They answer routine calls and texts, explain your approved services, collect the caller's details and pass anything important to a person. You don't have to take our word for it: our own AI receptionist, Ivy, answers our line right now.

The problem

Every unanswered call goes to the next business on Google

If you run a trades business, clinic, salon, cleaning company or any service business in Vancouver, you already know the pattern. The phone rings while you're on a job, with a client or driving across the Lower Mainland. The caller doesn't leave a voicemail. They tap the next listing on Google Maps.

Hiring a full-time receptionist is a big fixed cost for a small business, and most answering services just take a message. An AI receptionist sits in between. It answers every call and text in seconds, day or night, handles the routine questions properly and makes sure the enquiries that matter reach you with the details already collected.

What it handles

What an AI receptionist can do for your business

  • Answer routine questions. Hours, service area, what you do and don't offer, how quoting works. Answers come only from information you've approved.
  • Qualify new enquiries. Ask the questions you'd ask: what the job is, where it is, how urgent it is, how to reach them.
  • Take structured messages. You get a clean summary by text or email instead of a rambling voicemail.
  • Reply by SMS. Many people would rather text than talk. The same agent can carry on the conversation by text on the same number.
  • Route the next step. Send a booking link, flag an urgent job or pass the conversation to a person.
  • Cover after-hours and overflow. Answer when you can't, without paying for staff to sit by the phone.
Live demo

Meet Ivy, our own AI receptionist

Ivy answers AIVIQ's dedicated Canadian number, 778-900-9944, by voice and by SMS. She works out whether a caller needs website work, business email help or an AI system, collects the useful context, and leaves complex decisions to the AIVIQ team. She's the same kind of system we build for clients, built around their own services and rules.

Give her a call or send a text. It's the fastest way to judge whether an AI receptionist would sound right for your customers. WhatsApp is coming soon, but it isn't live yet.

Who it suits

Vancouver businesses that get the most from it

Trades and home services

Plumbers, electricians, renovators and cleaners who are on the tools when the phone rings. The agent collects the job type, address area and urgency so you can call back the right leads first. Pair it with quote follow-up automation so estimates don't go cold.

Clinics, salons and wellness practices

Front desks that spend the day answering "are you open Saturday" and "do you take new clients". The agent handles the routine questions. Anything clinical or sensitive goes straight to your team.

Professional services

Consultants, bookkeepers and small firms who want every enquiry captured properly without an interruption every time the phone rings.

Businesses that live on text

If your customers mostly message you, a text-first agent can answer approved questions and gather details without forcing anyone onto a call.

Guardrails

Built so it can't embarrass you

A convincing voice is the easy part. The work that matters is deciding what the agent may say, what it may do, what it stores and when a person takes over.

  • Approved answers only. The agent works from information you sign off. It doesn't invent prices, promises or policies.
  • No pretending. It won't claim to have checked private records it can't access, or to be a person.
  • A real exit route. Complaints, emergencies and unusual requests go to a human with a summary.
  • Private credentials. API keys and provider access stay on the server side. They are never exposed in your website.

Questions people ask

How much does an AI receptionist cost in Vancouver?

AIVIQ sets up a phone intake workflow as part of the Operations Starter at CAD $1,995 one-time, after a written scope. Phone numbers, call minutes, SMS fees and AI model usage are paid to the providers separately, so you can see exactly what the ongoing running cost is. Optional System Care is CAD $249 per month.

Can I try an AI receptionist before buying?

Yes. Call or text Ivy, AIVIQ's own AI receptionist, at 778-900-9944. She answers by voice and by SMS on the same number. Ivy is automated, standard carrier charges may apply, and complex enquiries are reviewed by the AIVIQ team.

Will the AI pretend to be a person?

It should not. A well-built agent is clear that it is an automated assistant, sticks to approved information and hands over to a person for anything sensitive, unusual or high-stakes.

Can it book appointments?

It can collect the details needed for a booking and route them to you, or send a booking link, depending on your tools. Direct calendar booking depends on the scheduling system you use and is confirmed in the written scope.

What happens with complaints or emergencies?

They go to a person. Complaints, emergencies, pricing exceptions and anything needing professional judgement are routed to you with a summary, not handled by the AI.

Do I need to change my phone number?

Not necessarily. The agent can answer a dedicated number, an overflow or after-hours line, or calls forwarded from your existing number, depending on your phone provider. We confirm the setup before quoting.

Tell us the calls you keep answering.

Describe the questions callers ask and what should happen next. We'll scope the first useful agent by email. No compulsory sales call.
